About Duke EngEn

OUR MISSION » Leveraging university talent to build a better world through technological innovation
OUR ViSION » Developing lifelong innovators who deliver high-impact products

Duke Engineering Entrepreneurship (EngEn) is a bold initiative that integrates needs-driven design experiences, entrepreneurial education, startup resources, and a leadership team of successful entrepreneurs to deliver technological solutions to societal needs in health, defense, climate change and beyond.

To achieve this vision, EngEn provides an array of resources through two focused efforts that together drive the cycle of problem identification, solution development and the launch of new ventures into the marketplace:

  • Center for Purposeful Design and Engineering—Serving students, faculty and staff as they identify, design and validate tech-based innovations
  • Center for Entrepreneurship—Supporting founders as they launch new products, services and companies

Currently virtual, these centers will soon be physically located in the newly completed Wilkinson Building on the Duke campus.

Ravi V. Bellamkonda"Many of the greatest challenges facing society and our planet will only be solved by interdisciplinary teams that know how to identify authentic needs, design solutions that are both technically and commercially sound, and use entrepreneurial know-how to deliver those solutions to society. At Duke Engineering, we are accelerating the process by which the innovations we discover and create get to the marketplace—the best place to make timely, positive impacts."
